Gran Patron Smokey Silver

Nose: Gentle smoke, fruit and earthiness. Citrus rind and spiciness. A caramel/vanilla undercurrent. A slight sour note. The smokiness is not overpowering. It is well integrated into the aroma as a whole.
Palate: A big punch of pepper on entry, with accompanying bold anise. Oily, buttery, sweet fruit notes and agave. There is a butterscotch, caramel, toffee thing going on. The pop of pepper lingers but marries well with viscous sweetness. Neither the 50.5% ABV, nor the mesquite smokiness seem to be out of synch. This coats the entire palate and has staying power in the finish.
